Draw in New Customers with Animation!
If you've spent some time clicking around on the internet lately, I'm sure you've noticed the influx of animated videos on company websites now, and more likely I bet you've clicked on more than a few of them to get some more information about a product or service. What I bet you're not thinking (but should be) is "Thank goodness!" Maybe you haven't even noticed how much easier these little animations have made your life, especially when trying to figure out what such and such a business does, or how a certain program works.
Animated explainer videos are a great way to take a complicated message and simplify it for a general audience.
They’re easy to pass around online, and a creative, engaging way to increase brand recognition and awareness.
AND, by combining visual and auditory elements, you’ll see an increase in retention rates.
DropBox has a great animated explainer video demonstrating all of this:
Still not sold on the idea? Think of it this way -- Let's say you've opened up a new product, or downloaded a new program, and inside the box, (or on the set up screens) they give you a long booklet of instructions that you can choose to stumble through and hope you're interpreting it correctly -- OR -- they give you one page with pictures and arrows showing you every step of the process while simplifying it at the same time -- it seems obvious which one we'd all prefer to have. The animated explainer video is the same concept -- but probably even more helpful since you've added in that extra auditory component, making it easier for people to understand or remember information.
Animated videos are a great way to give a company or brand a sense of modernity, as well. They're eye-catching, and more tempting to click on than a link to text, or even a video of real people talking. They're a great way to introduce yourself on your website, or explain what it is you do.
