Scriptwriting Simplified: How to Write the Best Company Overview

By now its undoubtedly clear that video has powerful, far-reaching effects when utilized properly in a company’s marketing efforts.

According to the Online Publisher’s Association, “80% of internet users recall watching a video on a website they visited in the past 30 days. 46% of that 80% took action after viewing the video.”

So, how do you make the best video to suit your needs? It all starts with the script – the most important (as well as challenging) part of the video production process.  If the idea of starting your script leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, fear not! We here at Video Experts have some tips to make this process a more palatable one.

Keep it short, simple, and make your point quickly!

“The viewer is not interested in the fine details of your company, but rather the benefits of working with you.”

The best way to turn viewers into customers is to show them how you can help, what you have to offer, and why they should choose you as their answer. It’s also important that you do this in as little time as possible, as you run the risk of losing the viewer’s interest with longer videos.

Engage the viewer!

Using basic elements of story telling, you can lead the viewer down a path that is both refreshing and familiar. Introduce a problem they may not have even been aware of, and show how your company or product can offer them a solution. With new concepts being displayed in traditional storytelling format (Beginning, middle, end) you can keep people hooked from your introductory pitch, to your call to action at the end.  Speaking of:

Issue a clear call to action!

Many a good video has suffered from not giving the viewer something to do at the end of it. Don’t forget to ask them to call, to subscribe, to download – That was the point of the video after all, wasn’t it? Convert those viewers into customers by asking them to DO something!

Don’t get distracted by fancy cameras, or flashy editing techniques, because the viewer certainly won’t be. Despite what Hollywood would have everyone believe, nobody really prefers style over substance. The script is a crucial step in the video production process, and you can’t afford to rush through it.
